As fall gives way to another winter season, I wanted to showcase just a few of the many creative and wonderful homes that were on display in the Rocky Mountains during Summit County’s much anticipated Parade of Homes. Architects, builders, designers, and proud owners open up their creations to share with us all.
This stunning wood wall is a deceptively simple, but time consuming, application of wood blocks cut, stained, and fixed to the wall. The random depth of the blocks creates a three-dimensional sculpture and an amazing showstopper. Notice the use of pillows here, and in the bedroom below, to compliment the room.
Pillows can add another layer of texture and complimenting detail. Here they create a cozy environment.
Who doesn’t love a massive soaking tub? Notice the clever use of the framed mirrors on either side of the window. They are on tracks, and slide like barn doors to cover the window when needed.
The tile used here in this shower demonstrates that texture, as well as color, can also be used to create a stunning enclosure.
Here is a clever use of LED lights mounted in a hallway baseboard to illuminate a typically dark recess.
A game room in the mountains is a must, and here the choice of rough hewn wood and dark metal lends a strong visual impact. Even the color of the pool table felt is a design decision to compliment the room.
